Bobby Valentine gets a job with NBC Radio

Bobby Valentine will make his return to the media side of baseball, three months after he was unceremoniously ousted at the end of one sad season as the manager of the Red Sox.

Valentine will reportedly take a job with NBC Sports Radio as the host of a daily talk program, beginning in April, and will call in weekly to affiliated stations as a contributor until then. According to Sports Illustrated, Valentine's co-host will likely be named in March.

Before taking the job with the Red Sox in November 2011, Valentine appeared regularly as a contributing analyst for ESPN. He was fired October 4, the day after the regular season ended, leaving Boston with its worst record in nearly 50 years.

Before his failed season in Boston, Valentine also managed the New York Mets and the Chiba Lotte Marines in the Japanese leagues. During his career as a player, he had appearances throughout the infield and outfield for the Los Angeles Dodgers, California Angels, San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners. He retired at age 29 after a nasty broken leg just days after his 23rd birthday caused him to miss an entire season and never fully healed.
