Before Ronald Reagan was the 40th president of the United States, he was a popular star of film and television. And like most Hollywood stars, Reagan owned a gorgeous home in Los Angeles.

The Pacific Palisades ranch home on San Onofre Drive, where Reagan and his wife lived until they moved to a slightly more famous address on Pennsylvania Avenue, is now for sale.

In case you're interested in owning a piece of presidential history, this one won't come cheap: the house is listed on its website for $4,999,000.

Ronald and Nancy Reagan's former home has an incredible panoramic view of the city from high in the hills. The 4,764-square foot home sits on two-thirds of an acre, and, according to CNN Money was given to the Reagans by General Electric as a thank-you gift for his work on "General Electric Theater", which the movie star-turned-politician hosted from 1954 to 1962.

The Reagans sold the home in 1982.
