Philip Michaels shared this video of his father finding a new Havanese-Maltese mix puppy in the back of the family car, six months after dad had lost his 15-year-old Maltese shelter dog.

"We had a Maltese for about 15 years and he was beginning to get up there in age and had to one dreadful day, put him down. My father was heart broken," Michaels explained in the video's caption. "We all knew that we wanted a new puppy but would have to wait awhile for my father to heal. We were all heart broken."

According to The New York Daily News, the family named the new puppy Monty.
