An Iowa cornfield made famous as the property on which Field of Dreams was filmed has been sold to make way for, yes, a baseball field.

The Dyersville, Iowa cornfield was sold to Go the Distance Baseball LLC in 2011, but the paperwork was finally completed this week.

Go the Distance, which purchased the 193 acre-property for $3.4 million, will be converted in a 24-field youth baseball and softball complex called All-Star Ballpark Heaven.

The construction on the complex is slated to begin this spring and the new owners hope to open for games by 2014. Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad approved $21.6 million in tax breaks for the construction of the complex which is expected to cost $38 million to build.
