You never know what you're going to get at an American gun buyback these days. In exchange for a couple of gift cards, L.A. cops got their hands on two rocket launchers.

After the Newtown school shooting prompted the Los Angeles Police Department to move up the date of their Mother's Day gun buyback program, they received 2,037 firearms, including 75 assault weapons according to the Los Angeles Times. Though the Los Angeles Times had originally reported that the police collected one rocket launcher, L.A. Weekly now says officials managed to nab two of the military-style weapons.

Here's Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa with one of the rocket launchers:

Reports indicate that L.A.'s program was a resounding success, with 901 handguns, 698 rifles, 363 shotguns and 75 assault weapons recovered. According to L.A. Weekly, participants received a $100 gift card for handguns and $200 for rifles.

But apparently rocket launchers aren't unusual. "We've had them in the past," said one official.

Feel better, everyone?
