Orbiting over the Earth doesn't mean you have to miss out on Christmas. Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield recorded the first-ever song on the International Space Station. Hadfield called his song "Jewel in the Night," uploading it to Soundcloud and YouTube on December 24.

On Christmas Day, he tweeted:

Hadfield also recorded ambient noise aboard the ISS, so you too can hear what it's like to hang out on the satellite.

According to The National Post, Hadfield brought his guitar aboard the ISS to stave off homesickness. The 53-year-old took off for the space station December 19 in a Russian Soyuz capsule.

Don't miss Hadfield's personal Twitter account, which has been actively updating followers on his outer space adventures and daily activities -- from playing music to flying off the treadmill to the space station's Christmas tree.
