Kim Kardashian acts: Watch the trailer for Tyler Perry's 'Temptation'

Kim Kardashian joins Vanessa Williams, Jurnee Smollett and Brandy Norwood in Tyler Perry's "Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor."

Behold! Kim Kardashian has landed an actual acting gig in Tyler Perry's new film about marriage and fidelity. In "Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor," America's favorite professional celebrity and saleswoman plays Ava, a hypercritical, straight-talking, fashion-conscious matchmaker. Jurnee Smollett ("Friday Night Lights") stars as a married woman captivated by the attentions of one of her clients.

Kardashian unveiled the trailer on her blog:

I’m so excited to reveal the trailer for the new Tyler Perry movie I am in called ‘Temptation,’ which debuted on Yahoo! Movies today! This has been an incredible experience for me and I’m so excited for the movie to come out on March 29, 2013.

Some Perry fans were critical of the director's decision to cast Kardashian in the film -- who was once married for an unimpressive 72 days -- so much so that he felt compelled to defend his choice in a lengthy post on his personal blog:

About two months ago, long before I even heard about Kim’s marriage or divorce, I was trying to finish up the casting. I said to one of my producers, “who else is out there that young people are looking up to?” One of my producers showed me pictures that his daughter had taken of several hundred kids lined up around the corner to get into a Kardashian store. They wanted to meet Kim. I thought, what better person! She literally has millions of young people following her. I thought and still do think, that it would be very responsible of her to be a part of this film. To have the young people that look up to her, see her in a film that is about, what happens in life when you make the wrong choices. Whether you’re aware of it or not, to be honest with you I wasn’t, millions of young people adore her and are following her every move.
