LISTEN: DJ Earworm's "United State of Pop 2012" has arrived

Of all the annual year's end roundups, the "United States of Pop" heralds the end of the pop music year like nothing else.

Jordan Roseman, more commonly known as DJ Earworm, released his annual mashup of the Billboard top 25 songs of 2012.

This year's mix, called "Shine Brighter," encapsulates the songs that made up the soundtrack to which we all danced all year long. The chorus includes Rihanna's "Diamonds," Fun.'s "We Are Young" and "Some Nights," and songs like Kesha's "Die Young" and PSY's "Gangnam Style" have prominent appearances.

"Shine Brighter" is the sixth of DJ Earworm's mega-mashups, and Roseman told Chicago Magazine he was focusing on themes of awakening and realization.

"There’s a lot of disillusionment and reawakening themes," he said. "There’s lots of darkness, there’s lots of fire. You see themes that are fading. The apocalypse theme is still around, but it’s fading."

The official music video is due out December 25.
