Sesame Street clip teaching about death goes viral

An old Sesame Street clip that deals with loss has resurfaced and gone viral in the aftermath of the shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn. where 26 people were killed-- 20 of them first grade children.

In the clip, Big Bird learns about the death of a friend, Mr. Hooper, and the grown ups try to to explain what happens when people die.

"Big Bird when people die they don't come back," they explain to him.

"Ever?" he replies, "Why not?" Adding, "But he's got to come back. Who's going to take care of the store? And who's going to make my birdseed milkshakes?"

The adults tackle Big Bird's concerns one by one and finish on a happy note reminding him that they are lucky to have known Mr. Hooper in the first place.

"It'll never be the same around here without him, but you know something, we can all be very happy that we had a chance to be with him and to know him and to love him a lot when he was here," they tell him.
