It was only four days ago that Vice President Joe Biden stopped by a Washington, D.C. Costco superstore to experience one of America's greatest traditions -- buying in bulk. Not to be outdone, former presidential candidate Mitt Romney -- currently on a whirlwind humanization tour -- was spotted this week at a Costco in La Jolla, California, where he lives and buys gas.

TMZ is (obviously) first with the photos, which show Mitt wearing a cap high on his head and Ann sporting a bright pink scarf. Here is what they bought:

Besides the paper plates, dixie cups, wrapping paper, V8 juice drinks, pretzel snacks, Bisquick and bottled water ... Mitt and his wife Ann also purchased a model car made by the Maisto company (probably a gift for one of his 18 grandkids ... sorry for spoiling Xmas).

Ann has previously expressed her love for warehouse prices. “I always start at Costco,” she told Rachel Ray in October.

Romney just accepted a $60,000 job on Marriott's board of directors (yes, that's only five figures) and has also been seen pumping his own gas and riding Disneyland rollercoasters.
