After the collapse of a nearby pond, a giant sinkhole -- estimated to be the size of four football fields -- opened up a stretch of State Highway 516 in Dover, Ohio. According to WKYC-TV in Cleveland, the land belongs to the Newton Asphalt Company, which had been dredging for sand 50-feet below ground and could have created the hole.

"I've worked for the [Ohio Department of Transportation] sixteen years and I've never seen anything of this magnitude," District 11 Director Lloyd McAdam said. "It's very unusual that something like this would happen."
