Val Kilmer self-publicizes his stage effort by tweeting this photo of himself as Mark Twain.
Hoping to take his play about Mark Twain to Hollywood, Val Kilmer tweeted this photo of himself in make up as the legendary American author and satirist. Kilmer's has work-shopped his one-man show about the relationship between Twain and the founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, in Los Angeles, but he's got his eye on the silver screen. Kilmer told The Hollywood Reporter in March that he had "devoted" himself to the character, in the hopes that he could make a movie about it.
I wouldn't have time for normal breaks as an actor, and for a role and character as complicated as Twain and how I'm depicting him in the movie, I had to take time off to own it. And also I kind of got into the idea that it's not that creative, or unusual, to fund-raise now personally and for a small, hard-to-make movie because it's period, God's in it, God's a player -- well not really; (Laughs) Morgan Freeman wasn't available.
