Fox News ends interview after guest Tom Ricks calls the network 'a wing of the Republican party' [VIDEO]

Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Thomas E. Ricks, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and blogger for Foreign Policy appeared on Fox News Monday morning to discuss the Obama administration's response to the September 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi. When Ricks accused the network of "operating as a wing of the Republican Party" and "hyping" the attack, the anchor abruptly cut the interview short. "I think Benghazi was hyped -- by this network especially," Ricks said to the anchor.

Ricks: How many security contractors died in Iraq do you know?

Anchor: I don't.

Ricks: No, nobody does, because nobody cared.

According to The New York Times, Ricks' 90-minute interview was supposed to last three minutes. Ricks explained his decision to call out the network in an e-mail saying, "One reason I spoke the way I did is that the hero of my new book is George Marshall, the Army chief of staff during World War II. He got his position by speaking truth to power, and I try to follow that example."

Fox News has led criticism of the administration's actions before and after the Benghazi attacks, often suggesting that members of the president's team, including Susan Rice, had orchestrated a "cover up" of the incident.
