Election 2012: Obama, Romney talk sports on Monday Night Football

"One of the big unifiers in this country is sports, and football in particular. You don't go to any place where folks don't talk about some football," President Barack Obama said in a Q&A with ESPN's Chris Berman on Monday Night Football. On the eve of the election, pre-recorded interviews with both presidential candidates aired at halftime during the Eagles-Saints game.

Chris Berman asked the president about his favorite team, the Chicago Bears, and his thoughts on the new college football playoff system Obama had hoped for: "Promises made, promises kept. This was something I said needed to get done, and this is the kind of change you can believe in. But I’d like to see it actually go to eight.”

President Obama also had a dig at both political and sports reporters saying, "Political reporters are a lot like sports reporters. You lose a game and you're a bum. You win a game and you're a god."

For his part, Republican candidate Mitt Romney spoke about the energy he still felt after months on the campaign trail. He also voiced concern about performance-enhancing drugs and even took credit for the success of his favorite football team, the New England Patriots.
