Green Party candidate Jill Stein arrested outside presidential debate

Stein and her running mate Cheri Honkala were arrested outside the debate area at Hofstra University on Tuesday afternoon. Third party candidates have been blocked from participating in any of the presidential debates this general election.

Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein and her vice presidential running mate have reportedly been arrested outside the debate hall at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York.

A video posted on Youtube (below) shows Stein and Cheri Honkala as they are removed by police for blocking traffic. The two women, as seen in the video, had been sitting in the road, arms linked, with an American flag draped over their laps. According to RT news, Stein and Honkala remain in police custody.

The campaign's account tweeted news of the arrest earlier this afternoon:


They had earlier had called for their supporters to "occupy the commission on presidential debates" on Twitter.
