Samuel L. Jackson tells voters to "wake the f*** up!" and vote

Turn on a television in the U.S. between now and November 6 and you're almost guaranteed to see a political ad from one campaign or another, most likely attacking President Barack Obama or his Republican opponent Mitt Romney.

Most of these ads are set to ominous music, with a somber voiceover warning of utter disaster if the wrong candidate gets elected. Hurry! Donate! Register to vote! Don't delay! Our country's future depends on it!

Well, Samuel L. Jackson gets it--this election is important. He just doesn't think we need to be so serious about how we go about motivating people to cast their votes.

Jackson teamed up with the Jewish Council on Education and Research (the same people who sponsored Sarah Silverman's foul-mouthed takedown of voter ID laws) to create a pro-Obama ad encouraging disillusioned 2008 voters to get excited about the president again.

The three minute video was scripted by Adam Mansbach, author of the Jackson-narrated 'children's book for adults', Go the F*** to Sleep, and features a young girl trying to convince her older family members that their enthusiasm is still important. Jackson helps her out, popping up to tell her siblings, parents and grandparents to "wake the f*** up!"

While the ad is aimed squarely at Democrats and left-leaning Independents who were enamored with the unvarnished (and untested) version of Obama that ran on ideals and ideas in his first campaign, both parties agree that turnout will likely determine the outcome of November's elections.
