Obama gets an animated campaign jingle that's just like JFK's

Professional jingle writers Write Me a Jingle took inspiration from a classic from President John F. Kennedy's campaign to create a ditty for President Obama's reelection campaign.

Political campaign jingles, at least in presidential campaigns, don't show up very often in this day and age.

They used to happen all the time. Think, "Monroe is the Man" (for James Monroe, 1816) and "Wilson, That's All" (for Woodrow Wilson, 1912).

President John F. Kennedy, for whom television famously played a crucial role in his election hopes when he appeared youthful at his debate against Richard Nixon, ran an ad in the election featuring a tuneful jingle.

"Kennedy! Kennedy! Kennedy!" the jingle goes. "Kennedy for me!"

"Do you want a man for president who's seasoned through and through, but not so doggone seasoned that he won't try something new?"

The people at professional jingle writers at Write Me a Jingle has taken the classic Kennedy campaign ad, nearly word-for-word, and created an (unofficial) jingle for President Obama's reelection campaign.

"You'll cast your vote for Obama and the change that's overdue, so it's up to you, it's up to you, it's strictly up to you!"

The line sounds like it could have been written for Obama, but it's taken straight from the Kennedy ad, swapping out the name of the candidate and nothing else.

Check out Obama's video, immediately below, and the original Kennedy campaign ad, below that, and click through the slideshow above for some side-by-side comparisons.

One thing's for sure: the ads are a lot more fun than the attack inescapable attack ads that will be on television nonstop between now and November 6.
