Sarah Silverman PSA slams voter ID laws

By KATE STANTON, UPI.com

Several states have added strict voter ID laws to their books ahead of the 2012 election, including Georgia, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Tennessee. Such laws require voters to bring specific kinds of photo ID to their polling place, which proponents say will cut down on voter fraud. Opponents believe that voter ID laws disproportionately disenfranchise African Americans, students and the elderly.

Comedian Sarah Silverman lends her signature sarcasm to "Let My People Vote," a video sponsored by the Jewish Council for Education and Research, arguing that "this attempt to prevent voter fraud is itself the only voter fraud taking place."

As Silverman explains, "No photos, no voto":

Can you believe it’s election time again? Time to go to the polling place, cross your name off the list and vote. But this year, it’s not going to be that easy because there are these brand new, super f***ed up laws which are presented as ways to prevent voter fraud but are in fact designed to make it harder for specific people to vote: Black people, elderly people, poor people and students.
