Clint Eastwood talks gay marriage, libertarianism on 'Ellen'

The 82-year-old actor, director and progenitor of "Eastwooding," appeared on Tuesday's episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" to promote his new film "Trouble With the Curve."

With his feet up on Ellen's coffee table, Eastwood shared his thoughts on supporting gay marriage, libertarianism and that RNC speech.

"The Democrats who were watching thought I was going senile," Eastwood said. "Republicans knew I was."

Eastwood explained that his stance on gay marriage stemmed from a libertarian belief system, which he summed up as "Leave everybody alone."

Though he has expressed his support for Mitt Romney, Eastwood got in a dig at both Republicans and Democrats, saying that "both sides have just spent like drunken sailors."

"Not to insult the Navy," he added.
