The National Media Museum in Great Britain has revealed a discovery of the first ever color movie, made 110 years ago by inventor Edward Raymond Turner.

The moving pictures were created using a process invented by Turner and his backer Frederick Lee in 1899, which was considered a practical failure until these images were unearthed and 'unlocked' using digital technology. The film was shot using red, green and blue filters, and includes pictures of a macaw, a goldfish in a bowl, and children playing with sunflowers.

Curator of Cinematography Michael Harvey discovered the film and worked with archive experts to reconstruct and restore the footage and transformed it into digital--and thus watchable--files.
