HBO reality show "Hard Knocks" aired incredibly awkward footage of Miami Dolphins coach Joe Philbin firing Chad Johnson, just out on bail on domestic abuse charges.

HBO's camera's were rolling when the Miami Dolphins fired wide receiver Chad Johnson, formerly known as Chad Ochocinco, less than a day after the football player was charged with domestic abuse for allegedly head-butting his wife Evelyn Lozada.

"I just don't see the mesh right now," Dolphins' coach Joe Philbin tells Johnson in the video. "I wish it was different. I wish I could tell you something more encouraging, but I just think it's best for both of us that we kind of part ways at this point in time.

Johnson sits in silence as Philbin promises that he is not making an example out of the football player's troubles with the law.

"It has nothing to do with that. It's more about how you fit in, and how we fit in together, and where this thing is heading," Philbin says.

HBO's reality show "Hard Knocks" focuses on a different NFL training camp each season. Miami Dolphins' coach Philbin and his team have been profiled this year.
