Although no fewer than eight film adaptations of Charles Dickens's Great Expectations have already been made, there always seems to be room for a fresh attempt.

Thus, Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Four Weddings and a Funeral) along with screenwriter and author David Nicholls (One Day) is preparing to throw his hat into the ring.

Starring Jeremy Irvine (War Horse) as Pip, Newell's cast features a bevy of Harry Potter alums, including Helena Bonham Carter as Mrs. Havisham, Ralph Fiennes as Magwitch, Robbie Coltrane as Mr. Jaggers, Jessie Cave as Biddy and even Helena Barlow as the young Estella.

The film has no U.S. release date yet, but will open in November in Ireland.
