The Iowa State Fair is a popular stop for campaigning politicians.
Both presidential tickets were represented at the fair best known for both its deep fried Twinkies and its soapbox. U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan made his first solo appearance as Mitt Romney's vice presidential running mate and was greeted by both cheers and hecklers.
President Barack Obama also greeted Iowans at the fair, and he ended up buying a round of beers for supporters.
Per the pool report:
"Let's stimulate the economy tonight," Cunningham said.
"I'll tell you what," the president said, pulling out his wallet. Someone in the crowd then shouted "four more beers!" which set off a chant.
"For more beers?" Obama said. "O.K. here's what I'm gonna do.
"Except for the person with the Romney sign... I'm teasing. I'm gonna buy 10 beers. Who wants one?"
The president also reportedly got a plate of pork chops on a stick and a t-shirt that says "Save water, drink beer."
No word on whether or not the Romney supporter got his beer.
