WATCH: BASE jumpers drop iPhone 1,000 ft--and it survives

iPhone owners worry that even a short drop to the floor will crack the screen of the notoriously fragile device. But a BASE jumper intentionally dropped his 1,000 feet--and it survived without a scratch.

Gary Connery likes to jump off things from way up in the air.

Last week, he was part of the most talked-about moment in the Olympic opening ceremonies. He donned a pink dress and a pocket book and leaped out of a helicopter over the stadium: yes, Connery played the role of Queen Elizabeth-as-Bond girl in her high-flying entrance.

Now Connery, along with Bretty Kistler and Jamie Flynn, has staged another high-flying stunt. The three thrill-seekers leaped off the Eiger, a 13,000 peak in Switzerland, wearing nothing but "squirrel suits." As in--no parachutes.

The jump was for G-Form, who made the men's compression clothing worn along under their wing suits.

Connery was recording the jump using his iPhone, and he decided, apparently spontaneously, to drop the phone from more than 1,000 feet from the ground.

The iPhone, also clad in protective G-Form gear, not only survived the fall, but continued to record the entire thing. It survived undamaged.
