'Cloud Atlas' trailer hits the Web

At nearly six minutes, the first trailer for the Wachowski's century-spanning "Cloud Atlas," has appeared online.

Based on David Mitchell's 2004 novel of the same name, "Cloud Atlas" explores the lives of individuals connected across time and space, from the 1850s to a post-apocalyptic Hawaii of the future.

Starring the likes of Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Susan Sarandon, Hugh Grant and Jim Broadbent, early buzz about the movie seems good, with critics calling it everything from "stunning" to "staggeringly ambitious." The Atlantic, for their part, called it "the weirdest trailer of the year."

It's worth nothing that Hugh Grant has made a complete turnaround from the lovable bumbling Brit of past roles.

"I do a lot of killing and raping," Grant said of his character in Empire magazine.
