June 25 (UPI) -- Michael jackson died three years ago today, at the age of 50.

The “King of Pop” remains one of the most successful and most influential entertainers of all time, even as his personal life was marked with scandal.

Here are some of his biggest hits for your enjoyment.

"Thriller" (above) was quite popular as a single, but truly took off as a video single. It won three MTV music awards, and was the first music video named to the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.

"Billie Jean" was Thriller's second single, and topped the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks. Its video is considered that which brought MTV to prominence.

"Smooth Criminal," which peaked at number 7 on the Hot 100, was the source of Jackson's famous anti-gravity lean.
