Destruction of Syria's chemical weapons could take place at sea

(UPI) -- Destructing Syria's chemical weapons arsenal at sea could be a viable alternative should no country be found to host the act, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons said Wednesday.

The OPCW aims to destroy 1,300 metric tons of toxic agents by the middle of 2014. Albanian, Belgium, and Norway have all rejected using their land as host to the operation.

The Syrian government has allegedly used chemical weapons on numerous occasions in the last 32 months against civilians in Syria. The government denies these accusations.
