Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Suicide bombers killed more than a dozen people Wednesday in Maiduguri, Nigeria, police said.
Four suicide bombers detonated devices in the Muna district of the northeastern Nigerian city. BBC News said 10 people died, though Nigeria's Premium Times put the death toll at 18.
Nearly 30 people were injured the local newspaper said.
Victor Isukwu, spokesman of the Nigeria police force in Borno state, said Boko Haram was responsible for the attack.
"Today ... at about [6:13 p.m.], four suicide bombers, two males and two females, infiltrated Muna Gari community in Konduga [local government area], and detonated [improvised explosive devices] strapped to their bodies at different locations," he said. "The first explosion occurred at a prayer ground, while the other explosions occurred thereafter, all within the community."
The bombings came on the same day police blamed Boko Haram for another attack in Adamawa state in eastern Nigeria. Militants attacked two communities there -- Sabon Gari and Kafin Hausa.
Local representative Adamu Kamale told Premium Times the militants killed livestock, looted and burnt houses, and killed at least two people, including a police officer.
Adamawa state Gov. Muhammadu Jibrilla said police engaged the attackers in a gun battle for at least an hour.
"Security are on top of the situation now," he said.
