June 13 (UPI) -- Firefighters and emergency personnel encountered a dramatic scene in London early Wednesday -- most of a 24-story residential tower in flames.
The fire broke out early Wednesday morning in North Kensington, in west London, drawing a response from 40 fire engines and at least 200 firefighters, authorities said.

London Metropolitan Police said evacuations were underway as emergency crews attempted to clear the building, Lancaster West Estate.
It wasn't immediately clear how many people were in the tower at the time, or how the blaze may have started. Police said two people were being treated for smoke inhalation.
