10 weapons arrests made in 2015 Charlie Hebdo attacks

April 26 (UPI) -- Anti-terrorism police in Belgium and France arrested 10 people suspected of supplying weapons to a man linked to the 2015 attacks on the Charlie Hebdo magazine offices and a Paris supermarket.

The suspects allegedly supplied Amedy Coulibaly with weapons, the French television news channel BFMTV reported.

Coulibaly, who pledged loyalty to the Islamic State, killed four people he took hostage inside a kosher supermarket in eastern Paris as well as a police officer. He died in a shootout with police at the market Jan. 9, 2015.

His demands included the release of the Kouachi brothers, who attacked the offices of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo on Jan. 7, 2015, killing 12 people. Police linked Coulibaly to the magazine office attack.

Said Kouachi and Cherif Kouachi were killed by police in a standoff at a sign company in Dammartin-en-Goele, which took place at the same time as the market standoff. The Islamic group al-Qaida took responsibility for the attack.

The names of the those arrested this week were not immediately released.

A total of 17 people died over the course of the three days of attacks and standoffs. Following the attacks, the French prosecutor's office said a suspected gun dealer and his wife were questioned on suspicion the weapons used by Coulibaly passed through a company owned by one of them.
