One contractor killed in oil pipeline leak in Saudi Arabia

Feb. 19 (UPI) -- A pipeline oil leak killed one contractor and injured three other workers in the eastern Saudi Arabian city of Abqaiq, state-owned Aramco said Sunday.

An emergency response team contained the "limited" leak Saturday, the company said in a statement. No details were given how the contractor died.

Armaco said on Twitter the leak occurred 37 miles southwest of the company's main Dharan compound.

Two injured contractors were discharged from a hospital and one hurt Aramco employee remains in stable condition, the company said.

The company said it will conduct a thorough investigation of the accident.

Saudi Arabia has decreased oil production in coordination with a managed agreement from Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. Saudi Arabia's oil production is below 10 million barrels per day.
