Spencer was divorced from her first husband in 1976 and married Earl Spencer the same year. He died in 1992. She married a third time in 1993 and divorced three years later.
Early on, she was known to have a rocky relationship with Diana, but the two reconciled before Diana died. Spencer was a director of Harrods International and Harrods Estates, travelled around the world for the company.
