LONDON, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Britain's Metropolitan Police launched a counter-terrorism investigation Thursday after police detonated a "suspicious item" discovered in a London underground train.
British police were called to the North Greenwich station after train staff reported finding a suspicious item on a train travelling eastbound on the Jubilee Line. The station was evacuated and a "controlled detonation" was carried out. The station, which closed at 11 a.m. local time, remained closed much of the day.
