Tropical Storm Roslyn forms to become Pacific season's 17th named storm

MIAMI, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Tropical Storm Roslyn formed in the Pacific Ocean early Monday, becoming the 17th named storm of the 2016 eastern Pacific hurricane season.

The storm has maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour, according to the National Hurricane Center, and is located about 750 miles west southwest of Baja California's southern tip. It is not forecast to strengthen much during the next 48 hours.

"Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles from the center," the NHC said in a statement. "Little if any strengthening is expected."

No coastal watches or warnings are in effect and the storm is not expected to pose a threat to land. The NHC forecast Roslyn will dissipate in the open ocean.
