MOUNT ABU, India, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- A man in northern India was bitten by a python while he attempted to take a selfie with the reptile, which was captured in a nearby hotel.

Forest Department officers who captured the snake were walking it through the crowd, which had gathered to watch the scene, when a man got close to the python in an attempt to take a selfie with it.

The snake lunged at the man and bit him on his shoulder near his neck.

The man was not injured.
