At least 4 dead in Spain passenger train derailment

MADRID, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- At least four people, including the driver, died and up to 50 were injured when a passenger train derailed in Galicia in northern Spain.

At least one of the injured people on the train was in critical condition and seven were in serious condition. Rain company Renfe said the train was carrying 63 passengers, the driver and other staff members

The train was traveling from the Galician town of Vigo to Porto in Portugal. The train derailed as it was going around a bend.

ADIF, the Spanish-run rail administrator, opened an investigation.

In 2013, some 80 people were killed when a train derailed. One of those killed and five of the 178 people injured were U.S. citizens.
