Mexico's volcano Colima erupts with plumes of smoke, ash

MEXICO CITY, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- The volcano Colima erupted with a column of smoke and ash plumes that spread across the region on Friday.

The Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Washington said volcano ash is expected to drift north and west for the next six hours.

Volcano Colima, also known as Volcán de Fuego, is one of the most active volcanoes in North America. Observations of volcanic activity date to the 1500s. The volcano is located in the city of Colima, on the Pacific Ocean coast of Mexico.
