TEL AVIV, Israel, May 30 (UPI) -- Less than a week after another stabbing attack in the same area of Tel Aviv, an Israeli soldier was attacked by a knife-wielding 17-year-old on Monday, sustaining minor injuries.

An Israeli soldier was stabbed in the shoulder down the street from the Israeli Defense Forces headquarters, receiving treatment at a nearby hospital for his injuries, Ynet News reported.

Witnesses claimed the 19-year-old soldier was walking down Pri Magadim street when he was attacked.

"I heard a lot of people yelling and I didn't understand what was happening," a witness told Ynet. "I saw a soldier and two other people holding sticks. Someone was yelling 'call the police, there was a terrorist!' I saw the soldier with his head covered in blood. It happened on the sidewalk, and it seemed as if the soldier was on his way home. His parents came down to the street and were in shock."

The 17-year-old suspected of the attack yelled "Allahu akbar," an Arabic phrase meaning "God is great," according to witnesses, and was later seen fleeing the area before being caught and arrested, according to The Times of Israel.
