Shia LaBeouf performs experimental art: 24 hours in Oxford University elevator

OXFORD, England, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- The experimental art career of Shia LaBeouf will reach new heights this weekend. But what goes up, must come down.

The American actor will spend 24 hours inside an elevator at Oxford University union in the United Kingdom.

The day in what the British call a "lift" is streaming live on YouTube until 9 a.m. GMT Monday. The event is called #ELEVATE.

Oxford students waited hours to interact with LaBeouf, with some leaving him gifts. More than 10,000 people had tuned in to watch as of 10 p.m .GMT Friday.

LaBeouf got his big break in Hollywood by starring on the Disney Channel TV show Even Stevens. He later went on to act in the hit movies: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Transformers, Transformers 2 and Disturbia.
