PARIS, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Former French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault was named foreign minister Thursday in a government shakeup ahead of the 2017 presidential elections.

President Francois Hollande also named French Greens Party head Emmanuelle Cosse as housing minister.

The reshuffling comes as Hollande attempts to gain broad support for his re-election bid in 2017.
