At least two injured in shooting on Barcelona's La Rambla Street

At least one person sustained gunshot wounds and another was stabbed or cut by glass, according to Spanish media.

BARCELONA, Spain, July 28 (UPI) -- Multiple people were injured Tuesday after two men opened fire on guests at a hotel in Barcelona, Spain.

At least one person was seriously injured after being shot, while another was either stabbed or cut by broken glass, according to reports.

The incident at the Silken Hotel reportedly caused scenes of panic at the intersection of La Rambla Street, which is a popular tourist location, and Pinto Fortuny Street.

La Vanguardia reports two masked men opened fire inside the hotel before fleeing.

Witnesses told El Mundo the shooting came after an attempted robbery, while others told La Vanguardia it appeared to be an attempted kidnapping gone wrong.

Police are investigating the cause of the incident and are searching for the suspects, one of whom was reportedly injured.
