Suicide bomber attacks NATO convoy

KABUL, Afghanistan, July 7 (UPI) -- A North Atlantic Treaty Organization military convoy led by the United States was attacked by a Taliban suicide bomber Tuesday in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Four civilians were wounded but no NATO troops were killed.

A white Toyota Corolla that was part of the convoy detonated as it approached the house of Pacha Khan Zadran, a former member of the Afghan Parliament. Its passengers moved quickly into one of the two armored S.U.V.s that were part of the convoy and departed the scene.

Following the suicide bomb attack, reports surfaced of armed men entering a building close to an Afghan intelligence agency installation and possibly causing gunfire and explosions.

This marks the second time the NATO coalition is attacked by a suicide bomber even though their military presence in Afghansitan is receding.

The Taliban launched its offensive in Afghanistan in April. Two weeks ago, the group attacked the Afghan parliament directly, killing five people and even losing seven of its own members.

In the first four months of 2015, civilian casualties have jumped 16 percent higher than the first four months of 2014.
