IS says 'spies' drowned, beheaded and burned in gruesome new video

By Doug G. Ware

DAMASCUS, Syria, June 25 (UPI) -- The Islamic State terror group has released perhaps its most gruesome video yet, as it purports to show the executions of "spies" via multiple methods, including being drowned in a cage.

The video features three groups of people in northern Iraq wearing red jumpsuits and confessing to supposed crimes before they are executed by IS militants.

The first group of four people are locked in a car and a militant fires a rocket-propelled grenade at it. The second group is locked inside a cage and lowered into a pool of water to drown. The third group of seven are beheaded by explosives.

The identities of those in the video weren't immediately known, and it wasn't clear whether any missing persons were among those in the three groups. But the terror group claims they were spies for the Iraqi government in Mosul.

U.S. intelligence officials have not yet commented on the new video.

The radical Islamic monitoring service Site Intelligence published images from the video, believed to have been filmed in Nineveh province near Mosul, Perth Now reported. (Warning: Possibly disturbing content)
