LONDON, June 5 (UPI) -- Prince Harry can now add 'Knight' to his resume.

The 30-year-old monarch received the personal award of knighthood from his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, Thursday during a private ceremony in Buckingham Palace. The palace confirms hat Harry earned his place as a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (KCVO) for his "services to the Sovereign."

Harry was given the KCVO insignia, which has been the symbol of favor given by British royalty since 1896 to those whom have provided honorable service to the monarchy. The prince is to leave the British military this month after 10 years in the Royal Army, having served two complete tours in Afghanistan.

"Inevitably most good things come to an end and I am at a crossroads in my military career," he said at the time of his announcement in March.
