VATICAN CITY, May 3 (UPI) -- Pope Francis has expressed his fears of how humans are treating the planet before, and he recently held a climate change conference in Vatican City.

The pope is expected to release an encyclical, which is a message to all bishops worldwide, about climate change in the next couple months. Meanwhile, he invited scientists and religious leaders to a climate change conference in Vatican City recently. Members of the United Nations were present.

A statement from the meetings says: "Human-induced climate change is a scientific reality, and its decisive mitigation is a moral and religious imperative for humanity."

President Obama recently said he and the pope will be discussing climate change when they meet in September.
