MIAMI, April 1 (UPI) -- The son of Canada's consul general in Miami was killed in a shootout during a suspected drug sale.

Jean Wabafiyebazu, 17, was shot to death Monday, as was Joshua White, 17, a suspected drug dealer, Miami police said.

Another suspected dealer, Anthony Rodriguez, 19, who police say was wounded in the arm during a shootout and confessed to detectives about a plan to sell two pounds of marijuana, was arrested. Marc Wabafiyebazu, 15, brother of Jean, was at the scene and was also arrested.

The Wabafiyebazu brothers are sons of Roxanne Dube, a Canadian diplomat.

Their father, Germano Wabafiyebazu, said they borrowed their mother's car, which has diplomatic license plates, to drive to an apartment in Miami's Coral Way neighborhood to buy marijuana, the Ottawa Citizen reported.

The Miami Herald, however, said police believe the brothers brought guns and intended to rob the drug dealers.

The shootings occurred inside the apartment building.
