NEW YORK, March 30 (UPI) -- Flights of JetBlue Airways were delayed early Monday by a system-wide computer outage that caused check-in delays on the East Coast.

Several flights were delayed, and long lines caused by the issuance of handwritten boarding passes were seen at New York's Kennedy Airport and at Boston, Washington, Tampa and Orlando airports.

JetBlue flights from New York were delayed by about an hour. The airline apologized and sent updates to customers via social media. The airline later reported the problem had been fixed, but delays continued.

Shortly after 6 a.m., JetBlue announced on Twittter: "We're working with our partners to get everything up and running as quickly as possible." It posted 40 minutes later, "Our system is coming back up now. We should have you on your way shortly."

It added the problem, which it did not specify, was resolved at 6:15 a.m.
