The man wore a grey sweater and dark pants was pacing through the building for most of the night, reported BBC News.

The motive for the man's overnight palace experience is yet to be determined, or as to how he reached the roof.

"At this stage it is too early to ascertain the reason as to why the man was trespassing on the roof," police said in a statement.

The parliament's roof has been previously used for protests by campaign groups, including Greenpeace.
