Palestinian killed by Israeli military in West Bank clash

Militasry police are investigating the incident.

TAPUAH JUNCTION , West Bank, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- The Israeli Defense Force acknowledged Monday it shot and killed a Palestinian teen at Tapuah Junction in the West Bank. It said a rock-throwing group of young Palestinians on a main road, hurling large rocks at a vehicle, ignored warning shots and calls to stop, after which a person identified by the Palestinian news agency Wafa as Imam Jamil Dewikat, 17, was shot. Military police are investigating the incident, which occurred near new Jewish settlements and Palestinian villages south of the West Bank town of Nablus.

Human rights groups have presented evidence that at least 40 Palestinians have died this year during protests or in incidents involving West Bank and Jerusalem police or military officials.

An Israeli girl, 11, was seriously injured Thursday when her family's vehicle was attacked on a West Bank road near the Jewish settlement of El Matan. Two Palestinian suspects from a the nearby town of Azzoun were arrested two days later, Shin Bet, Israel's internal security agency, announced.
