FUNCHAL, Portugal, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo presented a statue of his likeness on Sunday saluting his sporting mettle in his hometown of Funchal on the island of Madeira, Portugal.

The 10-foot-tall, bronze, bulging statue adds more silverware to the soccer player's accolades in an impressive year in which he helped his team win the Club World Cup, which the team won the day before the unveiling, and the Champions League in May.

Dubbed "CR7 Museum," in reference to the 29-year-old's initials and Real Madrid squad number, the museum holds more than 125 awards, including his two Ballon d'Or titles won in 2008 and 2013 after being voted the world's best soccer player.

A seldom disappointment in a year of accomplishments was after an underwhelming performance by Portugal in the 2014 FIFA World Cup that saw the team's dismissal in the earliest stage of the competition.

"I feel so proud to be honored with a statue in Madeira," Ronaldo posted on Twitter. He was also honored the same day with the Cordão Autonómico de Distinção, Autonomic Cord of Distinction, the highest merit in Madeira.

"I hope that 2015 will be just as good as 2014 and we can win everything we have won this year," Ronaldo said.

Real Madrid has won 22 straight matches in all competitions and face fourth-place Valencia in Liga BBVA, the Spanish first-division soccer league, on Jan. 4.
